It sounds like Skylar never read the book, so it must have been a homework assignment. If he hadn’t been forced to read it (if his friends had introduced it to him, for example), he’d have probably read the entire series and been able to explain it to his uncle.

    Hey EarlWash:

As a group, the crows show remarkable examples of intelligence, and Aesop’s fable of The Crow and the Pitcher shows that humans have long viewed the crow as an intelligent animal. Crows and ravens often score very highly on intelligence tests. Certain species top the avian IQ scale. Wild hooded crows in Israel have learned to use bread crumbs for bait-fishing. Crows will engage in a kind of mid-air jousting, or air-“chicken” to establish pecking order.

(Just kidding…I actually agree with you.)

Hey virtual wind, I was thinking of cowboys in movies saying Howdy. I can see and hear Henry Fonda saying it now. Not Harry Potter though.

    Ushindi, Amen to that!

The only people I have heard condemning the Harry Potter stories have never read them and refuse to listen to anyone who doesn’t support their preconceived prejudices. Numerous religious people have pointed out the Christian lessons taught in the books. As for the “magic” presented in the stories, it is as dangerous as the magic in “Mother Goose” and other folk tales. The words of the “spells” are often clever puns and quite amusing.

Come on! Jesus said “Suffer ye not the little child witch to live, that he may come unto me!” That’s clear enough, isn’t it?

You see, religious fundamentalists have trouble distinguishing between fiction and reality. Of course, if they COULD make that distinction, they wouldn’t be religious fundamentalists.
