Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Next on Peoples Court,The plaintiff, Calvin, he is a mischievous scamp, prone to over imagination and mayhem. The defendant is an old man who goes by many names and watches children when they are sleeping, only gives toys to little boys and girls when they are “good”, and has been found entering homes in the dark of night, the defendant, Kris Kringle.
Ahhh, the infamous salamander incident. Any ideas as to what went down? I mean, if even Calvin recognizes that an insanity plea is the way to go, does that not mean that this was worse than most of his adventures in mischief?
How come a 12-18 toon are being posted 1-30-2008. Surely in this day and age of Fax Machines and more the lag shouldn’t be more than a day. Does Calvin even know that Obama has been inaugerated?
For JosephR4570–still, it would make sense if gocomics sync’ed the month/date, as it does look a little odd to have a Christmas-related comic over a month after.
For txmystic, “salamander incident” likely refers to him dropping a salamander onto/into Ms. Wormwood’s desk (for marg–the salamander likely would have been unharmed, but Ms. Wormwood would have probably been stressed-out over that).
The Salamander incident much like the “noodle incident” are referred to occasionally but never explained. The last book of Calvin and Hobbes has a little blurb from the author where he states he intentionally never explains it, leaving it to our imaginations for what happened.

It would but without the author’s involvement I doubt they put any effort at all into re-runs.
I agree it is still fresh and funny. And I don’t mind a Christmas theme in January. Clever of the writer to leave the salamander incident to our imaginations. It’s more fun that way.
Calvin and hobbes has always been my fave, and now my 9yr old absolutely loves them, his older brother even got him a stuffie that looks exactly like Hobbs, they are soooo funny together,of course I can’t help but have Hobbs scare the pants off of my son when he gets home from school, comes out of the bathroom! etc.,he pretends Hobbs is alive, just like Calvin does. HE!HE!HE!LOVE IT!!!
I had a salamander incident once. But it involved a desert lizard, my cat and my mom’s best dress shoes…needless to say she can never wear peep toed heels ever again.
bigmitchperez says:
i love calvin and hobbes!!!what a pisser!!!!
So glad to see someone use the term “pisser” in a way I grew up with. I’ve found out that east coasters use it referring to something funny but mid westerners for something that angers them. West coasters don’t even use it.
Didn’t Watterson sometimes go on vacation? I’d bet instead of the repeats that ran in the papers when Watterson was out, we’re getting the whole series in chronological order, minus any repeats.
And its kinda sad that Calvin and Hobbes ended. Watterson did a great job in making it feel like you were really getting into a 6 year old boys life and his imaginary friend. I never wanted Calvin and Hobbes to end!
If Santa’s so good, why does he have so many aliases? He sneaks about at night, breaking and entering, and Big brothers select kids while racially discriminating against all others. He also encourages deforestization, and coal burning. Yet people love him.
On the other hand, we freak out if Michael Jackson has a slumber party with little boys.
Interesting … this is the first I’m hearing about the Salamander Incident. Kinda fun that exactly what happened is left to our imaginations, like in the Noodle Incident. However, in my humble opinion, Salamander Incident just doesn’t have the same ring to it that Noodle Incident does. Still fun, though.

I hope that no harm came to that salamander, Calvin.

As Christmas nears, sleep is short for little boys. They get real helpful too.

EDIT: So these are from years gone by?

calvin never even knew clinton was reelected, and when this comic was first printed he didn’t yet know that Bush beat Dukakis.

BlackKnight15, Calvin and Hobbes ended in Dec. 1995. These are from a decade or two ago, yet they’re still fresh and funny.

Seems to me that using “Calvin” and “insanity” in the same sentence is just pure redundancy!
