Attention Attention: Will all the “bummers” with their greed please step over to this open elevator shaft. And if, on your way down, you run into all the angry BAC proselytizers, well, good luck. Lately, it seems to me, and others have commented on it in their own way, we have hand an insurgence of spoilers, who just want to take all the fun out of this place. Let’s just quit it, ok?

FROM YESTERDAY’S POSTS: Gweedo Murray says:

That does it JonD.. the Beanie’s comin’ off. Ya done exposed me as a watcher of said cartoon. I don’t know why I liked it, but then I loved Magilla Gorilla too. …. Hold onnnn Gweedo By, I’m a-comin’….. That line pops up in my head in so many situations to this day, lol. Never got into magilla that much, but so many others I enjoyed, to bad there isn’t some enlarged general section here where people coud discuss the side-thoughts like this that any given comic brings to mind. (Editors, are you listening?)

    FROM YESTERDAY’S POSTS pt2:

    cleokaya says:

JonD17. I checked out your website. Very nice idea, very much needed. Beanie and Cecil rule. Remember Hector Heathcoate?

Cleokaya, thank you for much for your visit and kind words, please feel free to leave a comment or thought on the contact page, it will end up right in my inbox. My partner and I feel our approach to such issues like this is a very viable route for working out Humanities differences and attaining harmony. Hector Heathcoate, wasn’t he in the cartoon of Dudley Doright on Rocky and Bullwinkle? Name certainly is familiar, but cannot place it. (of course as soon as i post this, i am off to wikipedia to find out. Do either you or Guido remember a cartoon called Crusader Rabbit? I think it used to come on just before Beanie and Cecil, where I lived.

JonD17 - You are the hero of the day! Let’s just hope they listen to you. Thanks doc, I know you have tried intelligently and kindly many times to get the same message through, but they don’t seem to want to listen to any of us. Are there really that many angry, frustrated people out there in this world?

    JonD17,

Yes, there are many angry, frustrated people in the world. They read the comics and have trouble distinguishing between fantasy and reality: “Someone else is happy, so I must moan about my miserable life to counteract it”…even if the ‘someone else’ isn’t real.

    Delightful website, by the way.

See, Santa is not such a meanie or a suspicious, creepy old elf after all!

I remember getting up early, before anyone else. ‘Course, the whole point was to get some nice quiet solitude, so I was careful not to wake anyone else… but then, I’m not Calvin. I had a stuffed red fox, not a tiger. So there! Pftftftftftftftft!

I would have liked to have seen Calvin and Hobbes done as a animated show, and be allowed the same energy and irreverence that the strip has. A choice of directors for it would have been Bob Clampett, or Tex Avery

For once, wndrwrthg, I have to agree with you. That would be great. The best thing since the Simpsons. :) As for the rest of you guys, just because someones opinion differs from yours doesn’t mean that they can go jump down an elevator shaft. Especially you, JonD17 (who’s bad grammar makes his comment hard to read), I’ve been reading C&H for a long time and know how that character is when it comes to getting stuff. If you don’t like other people’s opinions, that’s tough. Live with it, don’t act like yours is right and theirs is wrong just because it’s different. Personally, I think your opinion is wrong, but I’m not going to tell you to go take a flying leap or anything. Relax!

Finally, no more religion debates about God and Santa on these posting comments. If all of you keep going on, on, and on forever, I would offend all of you “blasphemy!” But I kept to myself and said nothing at all. Just keep your beliefs to yourselves. I will do the same thing to myself. Of course, I believe in God. Now about that comic strip of C&H, it was kind of old and repeated. That would be nice to remember those old comic strips of C&H. Merry Belated Christmas for Calvin, his parents and of course, Hobbes, too! I think it was so funny to see Calvin’s parents on the panel 4. Yea, it is technically morning! LOLs! JonD17, your comment was very nice! Rock on! Wink! ;-)

WildHorse-I liked the one where the father was going to put up the Christmas tree in the garage. That way IF Calvin got any presents, they wouldn’t have to carry them as far to the trash (if I remember the story line correctly).

Anyway, thanks for reminding me of some of my favorite old cartoons when I was a kid! Hector Heathcoate, Magilla Gorilla, Beanie & Cecil, Rocky & Bullwinkle, AND WHAT ABOUT YOGI BEAR AND QUICK DRAW MCGRAW? OH, AND HUCKLEBERRY HOUND? I think a lot of us here are becoming old “foggies”! Don’t you just hate it! Too bad our kids have to grow up with these crummy cartoons today! No graphic arts or anything! They sure missed a lot of the good stuff!

Bill Watterson wanted to create dialogue about God in this comic, that is why he introduced God as a topic. He wanted us to think, and talk to each other about his thoughts. I think that it is all good.
