    One of the relatively few times when Calvin’s father’s profession is mentioned…unlike many comic strip parents (and some in early sitcoms) who simply “go to the office.”

    I think one of my favorite Calvin strips is the one where Dad says they can keep the Christmas tree in the garage! My husband threatened us with that line many years when the kids were little!

    This is not necessarily any indication of Calvin’s father’s profession. Calvin is merely referring to him as his patent attorney in this particular situation.

    I always thought that Hobbe’s was Calvin’s attorney, but I could be mistaken here. The design on the chair Calvin’s father is sitting in looks suspicously like the design on Hobbe’s swimming trunks of a few weeks ago. Hmmmmm….
