in truth, a police officer does not have to read the person their miranda rights, and they can not go free if not told them

They have to be read before questioning, or whatever statements the accused gave can not be used in court.

If they did not read the miranda rights, what you said cannot be used against you in court. It’s not an automatic “get out of jail free card.” Peter is stupid.
