Jason: Man, it's like they want this game to be one big headache. Roger: You've noticed. That's the whole point behind sand traps and water hazards and undualting greens- golf is meant to be a thinking man's sport. Jason: I'm talking about their use of yardage and degrees of loft. I could compute all my shots in my head had they instead used meters and radians. Fortunately, I memorized the conversion formulate. Roger: You know, it is possible to be thinking a tad much.

Even that’s not sufficient to actually make golf interesting.
I’d rather watch paint dry while eating ground glass than play a round.

There exist nothing like thinking too much. Drinking does.
Many experienced it.

Mark Twain once said that golf is a great walk in nature gone bad.

I think I recall that comment by Twain. Anyhooos, Jason displays his math skills again, but he has demonstrated his lack of “wisdom.” Since he didn’t utilize his skills when constructing his bungee cord or the kite, I can guess that if he calculates these golf shot ballistics, his swing will still nullify is efforts. Oh, but I guess that’s the point of this comic, eh?

Watching Roger golf is like watching my hubby golf. Thank God he only does it once a year when we’re on vacation.
And math doesn’t always make stuff work in real life. I’m a whiz at geometry, but darned if I royally SUCK at pool.

“You know, it is possible to be thinking a tad too much”. This from a man with a golf ball attached to the bill of his hat.
Hey Librarian, I suck at pool too.

A well-known way to get out of doing things: make yourself so irritating you won’t be asked again.

There was a Disney comedy short once of Ludwig Von Drake using Trigonometry to teach Daffy Duck how to figure pool shots angles and control. I’ve been trying to find that clip for 40 years.

Like Father, like Son? Naww….the apple fell too far from the tree.

Librarian - I have the same problem. It is one thing to plan the way the ball needs to go to make a shot. It is another thing entirely to execute it.

Radical, I think you mean Donald Duck. Daffy is not Disney he is Warner Bros. And I remember that film. It’s called Donald in Mathmagic Land. I used watch it all the time as a kid. The trees have “square roots”. anyway you can find it on youtube.
