Kids CAN take care of younger kids. They can walk to school on their own, too. Kids can have far greater responsibility and usefulness than their selfish and dumb parents can accept…what are we teaching them, that they are capable and can do important tasks? or that they must be waited onand that nothing less than an expensive toy is important?
America wasn’t built by nor did it save the world when populated by the coddled…
Unless you live in a major metropolitan area, your child has a far greater chance of dying in an airplane crash than being abducted by a stranger.
The national average is 0.14 per 100,000 under the age 16.
In some cities it’s as high as 35 per 100,000.
As for swimming pools, no child under the age of 5 should be supervised by anyone but an adult. From ages 5 to 14, the numbers drop to 0.75 per 100,000, slighter higher than half the national average of 1.3 per 100,000 for adults.
Compare to motor vehicles deaths per 100,00:up to age 14 4
14 to 16 12
16 to 25 23
To put it another way, it’s 150 times more dangerous to let your 17 year old drive to school than to let your 8 year old walk to school.
