Pooch Cafe by Paul Gilligan for November 16, 2009
Transcript:
Poncho: Hi, Gus! Hey, where's your fish? Gus: She'll be along in a bit. Poncho: How can she "be along in a bit" if she's in a fishbowl? Gus; She's actually just in the bushes outside. She heard that it's good to make the man wait. Poncho: That was your idea, wasn't it? Why can't you just let her rely on a natural impression without gussying it up? Gus: Oh, and I suppose that book of poetry just leans there like that every day!

Although you hide in the ebb and flow Of the pale tide when the moon has set, The people of coming days will know About the casting out of my net, And how you have leaped times out of mind Over the little silver cords, And think that you were hard and unkind, And blame you with many bitter words.
– The Fish, W.B. Yeats
”I wonder where that fish has gone?” ”You did love it so, you treated it like a son.” ”And it went wherever I did go.” ”Is it in the cupboard? Wouldn’t you like to know! It is a most elusive fish.” ”That went wherever I did go.” ”Oh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!” ”A fish, a fish, a fishy OOOOH!” ”Oh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!” ”That went wherever I did go!”

Timing is everything…even in a fish’s twisted little noggin.
