Don’t be too hard on Frank - I learned how to drive on a stick shift, but those days are gone. I bought another PU last March and the salesman was telling me that, while stick shifts used to be standard and automatic transmissions were extras, now it’s just the opposite. Standard vehicles come with automatic - if you want a stick, it costs extra. You don’t see a lot of clutch pedals anymore.
You want to go really far back, children? In my dad’s time, car heaters and AM radios were options - you paid a lot of money if you wanted to be warm in the winter or listen to the static-filled ball game.
Heck, in my dad’s time, starters were optional. Several of the vehicles he learned on were iffy starting, because the starters were installed later, on the farm, by the farmer.
Hey, I never learned how to use a stickshift – and though I’d rather that someone else say so, I am very far from an idiot. I do, however, have some perceptual problems, and I’m not the most physically coordinated cuss on the planet. I inherited my mother’s car, and it had an automatic transmission – for which I’m extremely grateful.
We already know that Frank is not all that coordinated. We also know that he’s no idiot. Heart-foolish, perhaps, but no idiot.

Frank, you are idiot! You don’t know how to use the manual stick (4 or 5 speed stick).
