I don’t get it

Me either. Maybe he accidentally glued his fingers to the fingerboard, so he can’t move them now?

That’s about what I was wondering

I’d wager he’s glued to his chair.

It’s the fingers he glued and now he cannot move them to change chords. Right?

Glued his fingers is the way I read it. You can see a tiny bit of glue on his top finger.

You usually don’t play chords on the cello (I’m a former cellist). Perhaps Dave meant “…in one key”. If he accidentally glued one finger to both the finger board and the string, he could play One Note Samba…
