I don’t get it.

Nothing must have arthritis. He seems to be wearing a copper bracelet. He looks an awful lot like Nobody, doesn’t he?

0 represents nothing, it originally was supposed to look like a hole that everything falls through. Make sense?

I’m really dense, I don’t get it

It’s a zero. Often when someone hears a noise outside, he looks out and doesn’t see anything. So he tells his wife who asks, “It was nothing.” In this case, it’s a zero tapping. It’s literally nothing. At least, that’s my take.
