Yeah, even worse, Thor–it’s Friday the 13th. Guess that explains your bad luck, huh? One day, fame; the next, you’re nobody again.

I don’t know precisely what it says, but I’m pretty sure it’s not “Three Cheers for Thor!” :))

    L for Lunatic?

I think Dudley’s flag is showing “L” for “Loser” in panel 2.

Are the runes on Thor’s belt supposed to mean anything? According to Wikipedia, it spells “gadts”. But they also have symbolic meaning which, as far as I can tell, reads, “This sunny day is sponsored by the god Tiwaz.” It’s cloudy where I am, by the way.

Thor was never known for bing the brightest Norse god. Watch out for that hammer, though!

I love Dudley’s flags. With no arms or hands, how does he change them so quickly?

Hey, when did Dudley score the rivets down his side? Has he been fooling around with the Bedazzler?

Thanks for the explanation of the gesture! (The posture of Thor in Panel 2 needs no explanation.)

Don’t worry, Thor, your fame returns every week in the Western world, save in Israel. (At least in Hebrew: therein the first six weekday are simply numbered as in Genesis, followed by Shabbat. To which I’m looking forward, BTW.)

Why is panel 2 only white, where the others have a background?

    Yeah for Freya!

Actually, the names of the gods identified with the days of the week were first Roman, from the “planets”: Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Saturn. Jupiter became Tyr or Tew; Mercury, Wodan; Mars, Thor, and Venus, Freya. Saturn had no near counterpart, so it remains Saturday.

Stdag? Looks even less like a word. Needs interpretation. Doctor Toon’s symbology, filtered through my Scandinavian blood, says it means, “Together, we warriors see signs that we will win the battle.” Or something like that.

There’s always next week Thor. My advice would be to carry a calendar.
