Ushindi I’ve got a few of those movies you’ve listed. I also have Bogie’s breakout movie, The Petrified Forest, which starred Bette Davis and Leslie Howard. Though I love the Wayne and Eastwood westerns, I never could get into television westers. I’m more of a sci-fi/fantasy comedy guy with some deviations like the Rockford Files

BC13 and Ushindi: I’m sooooo jealous of your collections. We have around 650 movies and probably 100 or so seasons of various tv shows on DVD, not to mention the ones we still have on VHS that haven’t been replaced yet. My personal favorites? Some of the old musicals, especially Doris Day’s “Calamity Jane”. (What can I say? I love “Secret Love”!)

Oh yeah, and I too have “Song of the South”. Uncle Remus rocks!

RICHARD said, “Wonder what makes her so hot.”

She gets them soused first, then turns the lights off so they can’t see.

JanCinVV You have 650 movies and you’re jealous? I only have a little over 400, though as I add I also weed out the unwanted to make room for more. I think I should be jealous of you.

I purchased Calamity Jane about 6 months ago. Great movie and my favorite Doris Day movie. She has such energy in those musical scenes.

JanCinVV: I have to agree with BC13 (did I tell you I’m nicer and better looking than him?) - I see no reason for you to be envious. It sounds like the three of us are doing what we enjoy - can’t beat that nowadays. We have slightly different tastes obviously (you’ll probably think me a bad person, but I don’t have a single Doris Day movie).

BC13: I think my attraction to TV westerns probably relates to the long-ago years when I sat with my dad and watched them with him in our living room. I’ve noticed I don’t enjoy them as much by myself after all the time that has passed since then, but I wax nostalgic for them regardless.

Ushindi Doris Day has put out some good stuff from Musicals to comedies and even some dramas. You may also want to check out a movie she did with Ronald Reagan called The Winning Team - if you like movies about baseball. It’s the story of Grover Cleveland Alexander. I thought she was the best part of the movie.

BC13 & JanCinVV: I thought her best movie was the Ruth Etting story - remember “Love Me Or Leave Me”? Doris and Jimmy Cagney? I also enjoyed those old romantic comedies with Rock Hudson. However, I still don’t have any Doris Day movies. (I also have a number of Ruth Etting recordings - my personal favorite is “There’s A Lull In My Life”. Of course, I still have old 78s of Al Jolson and others, also - but no Doris Day. Or, you can hear my Rudy Vallee and his Connecticut Yankees with Alice Faye, but no Doris Day)
