When I close my eyes I get dizzy…does that mean I’m really old?

My wife calls it “Selective hearing” … I call it a “God-send”!

(Today’s my 58th - and this is SO ‘me’ and it just reminded me I gotta pick up some BATTERIES for mine!)

“They” say the mind is the FIRST thing to ‘go’ - I beg to differ!

The mind is the THIRD thing! - 2nd is hearing, …. [I forget what is 1st! — lemme ask the wife. SHE knows EVERYTHING!]

    Selective hearing

I hear: Honey, would you like a cold one?

I don’t hear: Honey, take out the trash

She hears: Honey, take my credit card and have a good time.

Did I say that? I forget.

The mind is not the first thing to go. I still have mine. Hearing works too. On the other hand, when I get frisky my wife smiles at me and says, “Don’t you just wish …. “.

They say “life begins at seventy”….ah, but they do not tell you just what it begins to do,….therein lies the rub.

Wlhen I reached 79, my son-in-law said not to worry. 79 is now the new 78. Oh, good.

FishStix: You really took me back . I used to have a 30’ Chris Craft berthed at Martinez, then Bethel Island. I had a friend who lived in Rio Vista, and I’ve been in Foster’s many times - good to hear it’s still there. I’ve also often anchored off Brannan Island, but the last sturgeon I caught before I was transferred out of the Bay Area was off Rodeo by the radar reflector. Never knew about eels - we would put a bicycle basket over the side on a rope, with a can of cat food wired inside with holes punched in it. In 15-20 minutes the basket would be full of fresh, free grass shrimp.Used to love to take several couples and my girlfriend over to Sausalito for dinner and then come back through the bays late at night, all the lights glowing along the shore. And yes, Suisun Bay could really get nasty, couldn’t it? Used to fish a lot by the mothball fleet, also. At the time, never had ANY idea those would become “the good old days”. Thanks for the memory trip - I appreciate it. Good luck on your future fishing.

Hello – I am preparing materials for a workshop entitled ‘Laughing with Hearing Loss’ that will be presented at the Hearing Loss Association of America Convention 2016. Could I obtain permission to use this cartoon in my workshop? Thank you for your consideration.
