I let my kids get soaking wringing wet when they go out in the rain, which is every time unless it’s too cold. You can always towel off and change your clothes. The memories last a lifetime; unfortunately the bad ones do too!
Apparently Elly spoiled Elizabeth for not letting her go and play in the rain. She was afraid Elizabeth would get wet accidentally. We all did happen to get wet during the rain outside. It was no big deal.
I thought one of the reasons Johnston wanted to stop the real-time method of writing the strip was that she was being stifled by all the detail she had to draw and research.
Perhaps old habits die hard. More and more detail is creeping back in, especially in the background.
heh, unless it’s really cold, I usually put the kids in a bathing suit to play in the rain. If I put them in a raincoat and boots, they just take them off and they usually get wet underneath anyway as they splash in every puddle or river by the side of the road. Pure childhood fun!

That’s what rain coats and boots are for, Mom.

If he gets too wet and cold he’ll come in and she can put him in a warm tub, that would help him warm up again.
