Elly: What's going on? Phil: Come on, sis... you can't put people on a diet right before Christmas! Let there be pizza! John: You want me to insult your brother?
Women want to not only control their lives - particularly when they’re not especially happy about themselves - but the lives of those around them too! Didn’t someone already post misery loves company? Husbands may not be able to trample on that ground very solidly, but brothers? Hey, they were born for adversity!
It’s one thing to be on a diet yourself but you don’t need to deprive the whole family. I myself am on a diet and I would in no way make my little ones or DH eat like this if they didn’t need to. I loved in one of Lynn’s books she said something to the effect of it’s not like her kids would die if they didn’t follow Canada’s food guide 100% every day or who cares if they had cereal for supper. You don’t have to be a mean mom all the time!
Go for it! Pizza was invented as an easy food to make, and there are so many variations that you can't screw it up.
It's really easy if you buy a frozen crust from the grocery store; you just need tomato (or pesto) sauce, cheese, toppings, and an oven. (Actually, the crust is not that hard either, but it adds to the preparation time.)

That would be probably Elly’s first Christmas dinner with those siblings on the strip. Mmmm,…pizza! I’d love to make a homemade pizza. :-P
