    How about experiencing both sides concurrently?

    Too long that you have to shop (and get billed later), but too short that you can get off work.

    but most retail stores start the Christmas season in late September so i figure it is too long

    I’m with Elly. Actually I don’t consider New Year’s a real holiday. What’s to celebrate, so it’s the first day of a new year. It’s an excuse for people to take two weeks off work and then if you need a particular service you have to wait til they decide to get back to their office. It’s stupid.

    No I’m not a humbug, not where Christmas is concerned, only new year’s. I definitely celebrate Christmas and it’s true meaning.
