Refering to Children Of A Lesser God, where protagonist (Bill Hurt) is trying to make a promising deaf-mute student (Marlee Matlin) speak. Near the end, she does–with lots of colourful language directed at him–ergo he is successful.

So, Elly should enjoy that she succeeded in getting Liz to speak in something other than baby-talk!

Kids always learn NO as one of the first words since mommy’s always saying this and that is a no-no.

The terrible twos come too soon. She was playing fine all by herself, don’t interrupt Mom.

Risitas…ah yes, because sending an 18 month 2 two year old kid for saying “no” when they’re still working on their vocabulary is such a good idea. Save it for when she actually does something wrong. Learning language isn’t wrong.

Ah yes, we can’t wait until they start talking. THEN we can’t shut them up.

ahhh, the first sweet sign of baby’s self-awareness ‘hey, I have my own mind, and what’s on MY mind ain’t on hers!!!’… Liz no longer sees herself as part of mommy: “NO!” snif how wonderful ;-)

Tigger you’re so right! My cousin had a toy truck and he couldn’t pronounce the tr sound so guess what word he said in it’s place? Then my aunt and uncle were so embarrassed when they’d be in public or have company over and Danny said that word in front of them.
