Jon: Hey, Doc. How about another date?
Liz: I don't know. I don't feel safe around you, big fella. I might yawn myself to death.
Garfield: That put-down gets a 9.8.
Here, Liz accidentally reveals too much and tried to backpedal with a joke. The fact of the matter is, cartoonist Jon Arbuckle is an aggressive man who has never shown respect for boundaries with Liz, or Garfield. She feels threatened by him and is right to do so. Another fun fact, many Liz comics follow this exact same format, in both positioning and general dialogue. For a good example, go back to April 21, 1980! Keep on Garfin’!
