I ordered a back copy of a 1960 issue of my hometown newspaper. It’s about JFK winning the democratic nomination for prez. I got that because it was the first time I demonstrated my ability to read (at the tender age of three). My parents hadn’t realized it, but I’d been able to read comics and headlines for a few months already, but they thought I was just looking at the pictures.
Charles Addams did a great cartoon of a guy sleeping on a beach with a newspaper for a blanket. The headline reads “Archduke Ferdinand Shot At Sarajevo”.
