Pooch Cafe by Paul Gilligan for September 13, 2008
Transcript:
Poncho: Whoa! Your car is pancaked! Chazz: Okay, relax, deep breaths, it's not the end of the world. The fact that we all made it through the storm unhurt is the thing that matters, not our material possessions. Poncho: Guess you saw that one, then. Chazz: Aw, come on!!

This is true to life. You’re happy to have survived the storm, but the material damage still hurts.

My heart goes out to anyone affected by the storms this season. I hope Mr. Gilligan and his are well.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we don’t get hurricanes like the folks down south. But we usually get at least one pretty healthy windstorm every year in the winter.
The last couple of years we’ve had storms with wind gusts around 100 mph, which turned trees with shallow roots (like Douglas firs) and wood utility poles into cruise missiles, and caused extensive flooding along the Oregon coast. Damage like what Mr. G depicts in his strip today is commonplace.
Hang in there, Texas!

Here in north Georgia, we could use five or six tropical depressions to get rid of this drought and fill Lake Lenier back up to ocean status.
