Don’t the cats mooch? Mine do. We can’t have a peaceful meal around her without them jumping on the table, being removed to the floor, sitting there begging, geeze!

My dog comes into the kitchen whenever we prepare food. She stands there staring at the floor ready to pounce on any morsel that drops. She is smart enough to know that any movement towards the dining table would be met with consequences. She also has an uncanny ability to be anywhere in the neighborhood and still manage to sense when we are about to sit down to the table. As soon as my butt hits the chair she appears at the doorway.

Sounds like Poncho’s just punchin’ the clock today.

My cat mooches because the smells are interesting, but when it gets down to something being offered, he prefers cat food or treats.

Macushla: Is there a room you can put them in while you eat? I know it’s difficult to train cats about meal time, but it can be done.

Dogs can be trained, with patience, but start when they are young and never give them human food. That’s what usually starts the begging. Dogs and cats!

westiewestas, yes we’ve done that. Not all 6 mooch, only three are moochers, and one is really bad, the one I combine names with, her name is Macushla and my name is Alondra. I put her in the bathroom sometimes if she’s really bad, and let her out after we’re finished eating.

Alondra is a pretty name! Clever to combine the names for your gocomics “handle”!
