Linus is raking leaves in a pumpkin patch. Charlie Brown asks, "Getting the ol' pumpkin patch ready, huh?"<BR><BR> "Yes, sir, boy! Each year the 'Great Pumpkin' rises out of the pumkin patcch which he regards as the most sincere." Linus wipes the sweat from his brow.<BR><BR> "Do you think this pumpkin patch looks sincere?" Linus surveys his work. Charlie Brown looks around: "Oh, yes, it looks very sincere."<BR><BR> Charlie Brown stands alone: "Well, it didn't look INSINCERE!"<BR><BR>

But is it a sincere pumpkin patch when Linus’ only motivation is to have the Great Pumpkin visit him? Isn’t that like being good so Santa will give you presents? Is that really good?

I thought qualities like neatness didn’t weigh in for a pumpkin patch to look sincere, Linus? At least that was what he had said over Halloween just a few years before this.
