I like the opening panel, where Lucy is supposed to be “The Great Pumpkin,”with HER PERSONAL opinion of Linus’ MAD, WILD belief. There was a Peanuts strip, from the early days(circa 1954-1955, or thereabouts)which featured her destroying Schroeder’s Beethoven bust, and opened in a similar way-with Lucy depicted as a “Lucy bust,” saying,“PHOOEY! Schroeder and his Beethoven!”

Well, Lucy, assuming you have changed your mind on how you are about Great Pumpkin, all you can do is HOPE Linus told him that you’ve tried to be good.(referring to closing panel, of course.)

At least that’s the way I see it, considering Lucy’s expressions in Panels 9 thru 11, that perhaps there really is a Great Pumpkin, and she would like some “Halloween presents” as well—that she looks as if she has changed her mind, on what she thinks of Linus’ belief.
