Linus and Charlie Brown sit at their desk. They hold up up a piece of paper.<BR><BR> Charlie Brown turns and whispers, "psst...'K'" Linus writes. They are playing hangman, and 'The Great Pumpkin' is almost spelled out.<BR><BR> "YES, MA"AM?" Both say at once. Linus's hair stands on end. Charlie Brown says, "Oh, good grief!"<BR><BR> They stand. Linus says, "Yes, Ma'am...we were playing 'hangman'." Charlie Brown concurs, "Yes, Ma'am...Yes, we were playing 'hangman'." Patty and Five sit at their desks, watching them.<BR><BR> "Studying?" says Charlie Brown. He stands in profile.<BR><BR> "Oh, yes, Ma'am..you're absolutely right..we should have been studying...we're very sorry, and we won't.."<BR><BR> "May I say something, Ma'am?" Linus asks. He stands next to Charlie Brown, who thinks, "!"<BR><BR> Linus raises his arms and explains, "You see, two days from now it will be Halloween, and..." Charlie Brown rolls his eyes.<BR><BR> They sit on the floor outside the principal's office. Linus says, "I just thought it might be a good opportunity to get in a few words about the 'Great Pumpkin.'" Charlie Brown says, "I can't stand it!"<BR><BR>

You and your Great Pumpkin, Linus! Still, at least Charlie Brown DOES guess a correct letter, for their Hangman game, in Panel 3.

I also like Patty’s and “5’s” SMUG expressions, in Panel 5—“SHAME ON YOU TWO, Charlie Brown and Linus, playing Hangman when you should have been studying!”

I love everything about this strip: the faces and expressions the kids make, seeing CB and Linus fooling around in school, and the fun that always comes with the Great Pumpkin plot! Well done, Mr. Schulz. This may be my new favorite strip!
