Speaking of ā€˜thoseā€™ delightful peopleā€¦.I live in Canada and we average 5 or 6 calls a week from American sellers. Since the Americans have that ā€˜do not callā€™ list theyā€™re phoning us now. You tell them NO, they call back the next night and give the same spiel. Now we just lift the receiver an inch and hang up when we see the callā€™s from a State where we donā€™t know anyone.

I still get some of ā€œthoseā€ calls even though Iā€™m on the Do Not Call List. What I do when I see one coming thru (via my Caller Id) is to turn on my Auto-Answer Fax (same line used for my land line phone). It may take several calls for them to think that itā€™s a fax line before ā€œtheyā€ take me off their list.

If it wasnā€™t for my occasional use of the fax machine & keeping a land line for emergency calls (911) Iā€™d have it disconnected. My friends call me on my cell phone - thankfully telemarketing callers arenā€™t allowed to use them (yet).

I have one of those last names too - really quite useful when it comes to telemarketers!
