Speaking of ‘those’ delightful people….I live in Canada and we average 5 or 6 calls a week from American sellers. Since the Americans have that ‘do not call’ list they’re phoning us now. You tell them NO, they call back the next night and give the same spiel. Now we just lift the receiver an inch and hang up when we see the call’s from a State where we don’t know anyone.

I still get some of “those” calls even though I’m on the Do Not Call List. What I do when I see one coming thru (via my Caller Id) is to turn on my Auto-Answer Fax (same line used for my land line phone). It may take several calls for them to think that it’s a fax line before “they” take me off their list.

If it wasn’t for my occasional use of the fax machine & keeping a land line for emergency calls (911) I’d have it disconnected. My friends call me on my cell phone - thankfully telemarketing callers aren’t allowed to use them (yet).

I have one of those last names too - really quite useful when it comes to telemarketers!
