Yeah yeah, Mach…what we need is McCain, who will extend the economic policies that got us into that barrel in the first place.

And let’s NOT elect someone from the same party that brought us the boom of the 90’s.

( BTW, this is the same thing you righties were predicting when Clinton was first elected, remember? )

Um, TGS, “A financial crisis unmatched since the Great Depression, say analysts” (headline in the Guardian); Greenspan: “The current financial crisis in the US is likely to be judged as the most wrenching since the end of the second world war.”

    So the sky isn’t falling?

I would say that since we haven’t even dipped into a RECESSION yet and the market is actually starting to slowly heal the sky is definitely NOT falling. It’s tough yes but if you honestly think that our country is in Great Depression standards or even close you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

TGS what do yo mean we ar enot in a recession. look around man! can;t you see how the peoples have been economically disenfrancished due to deregulation? We tried to stop it in Congress but the obstructionist repugs blocked is (though with our coming supermajority that will no longer be a problem) - we are in a depression now brought on by Bush and his cronies on wall street and big oil companies with trillion dollar profits while people starve to death on the south side.

    But change is coming!

Go Barack - you are solid as Barack!

Folks, I think what you’re all missing here is that TGS will fervently deny being in a recession until the day after Barack takes the Oath of Office. Only then will we be determinedly in a recession, and it will be Obama’s fault. Right?

LTTG: That CERTAINLY will happen. Very recently we’ve read a post from Machacado, saying that Greenspan is Pelosi’s Congress fall guy… . Funny thing, because Greenspan was one of the fiercest defenders of the complete deregulation of the market, which caused us this actual mess, which was installed when Congress was Republican. . When Democratic Congress tried to set up some regulations, Republicans opposed or HLM vetoed… .

You guys are a either a bunch of liars or just too stupid to look up that the REPUBLICANS were the ones trying to regulate Fannie and Freddie as early as 2004! DEMOCRATS like Frank and Dodd were the ones saying there is no reason to regulate them. You can lie to yourselves all you want the but truth remains.

I’ve already proved this to you several times. Either stop lying or get some brains…or both.

TGS, I haven’t seen your “proof”, but let me point out that in 2004 the Republicans controlled the White House and both houses of Congress. If indeed, as you say, they were attempting to do something then, either they weren’t trying too hard, or they’re entirely ineffectual. Or it just never happened in reality.

“If indeed, as you say, they were attempting to do something then, either they weren’t trying too hard, or they’re entirely ineffectual.”

Or the Democrats blocked them and in some cases didn’t even admit there was a problem.

There, I’ve had to prove it again. Stop believing that the Republicans are the cause of all the problems in this country and look at your own. If you keep trying to blame only one side this country isn’t ever going to be fixed.
