I’ve done that for my two-year-old, actually. Stuff I gave him last year for Christmas that he was too young to play with and had never looked at got re-wrapped and re-gifted for his birthday. He thought it was great and I didn’t have to spend the money twice!
My husband still laughs about me giving him a library book for Christmas. I thought the price the bookstore wanted was too high for a book he’d only read once, and then collect dust. I stuck a $20 bill inside so he could buy something else, and returned the book to the library once he was finished reading it.
Thanks! When my husband tells people what I did, he usually neglects to mention that I gave him the cash, so he gives the impression that I’m a real tightwad.
