No, he isn’t. Marcus is trying to dress up like Dick Tracy, not Columbo, who NEVER wore a hat, and boy do I miss Peter Falk. Sigh

A little explanation for those who have no knowledge of the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The character Sherlock Holmes has always been protrayed wearing a Deer-stalker, the same style of hat that Jason is wearing. Obviously Jason is Sherlock Holmes. Holmes’ faithful companion in all of Doyle’s works is Dr. Watson. Therefore, Marcus is supposed to be Dr. Watson, who in most dramatizations wears the trenchcoat, and either a fedora or a derby.

I think that’s a stretch to identify Marcus as Watson — not a Victorian raincoat or hat. The style however is perfect for Bogart!

Sherlock Holmes never wore a deerstalker cap in any of the Dolye stories. Basil Rathbone portrayed Holmes in a deerstalker because Rathbone liked the way he looked wearing one. Might Marcus be Shaft?
