Sam Houston (writing): ...I'll never forget the day Texas was defeated at the Amalo, Olama, Maloomer, Aloma... Dang. In his later years, Sam Houston's poor recollection doomed his memoirs.
Margueritem, it’s not that bad. “Remember the Alamo” was a rallying cry for Sam Houston’s soldiers, starting I think, at the Battle of San Jacinto. And here’s Sam not remembering.
And I’m not even Texan, though I did live there for over a year way back when I was in the army.
Remember the Hertz….no…that wasn’t it….Remember the Budget?….naah….Remember the Enterprise?….nope, not it either….Remember the Dollar?…give me a minute, I’ll get it - this is driving me nuts…
A bit of trivia. So many young men from TN marched to Texas to whoop-up on the Mexicans after the Alamo that they have been known as the Volunteer State to this day.
My G G Grandfather was among them.

I took it as Sam not remembering how to spell Alamo. Shouldn’t make a difference as long as he has an editor.
