Mrs. Olsen: Is that a note you're reading, Caulfield? Perhaps I could read it out loud to the entire class.
Caulfield: No, Mrs. Olsen! No!
Frazz: Did you get her to read MacBeth again?
Caulfield: No, this time it was George Carlin.
Since my teenage years, my vocabulary has grown far beyond seven words. Wish stand up comics had this same word growth. There are adjectives and adverbs that don’t start with “F”.

Hi Varnes! I found that ↁ listed as the Roman numeral five thousand in the font “Arial Unicode MS”, in the character map in Accessories> System Tools, in Windows XP. ( I hope that’s not TMI :∙)
Thanks Arianne— never found that one. A few months ago I did find Þ so I could make ;cÞ but I keep forgetting to use it cos it has to be pasted. I tend to just type in the few alt codes I have memorised.
BTW — On this site and a few others alt 14, which makes a barred musical note in documents, makes the page go back and you lose your comment — but on some you can paste it from elsewhere and it doesn’t do that. ♫And Varnes, usually I have no clue. I sees em and I pastes em in, if they look appropriate. I’ve even found sites that share stuff like this:♕
and this is the second time a comment has disappeared when I click submit — so this site has glitches too. Hope you “old hands” from GoComics aren’t bothered by all fo us newcomers trying to find our way. We’re mostly nice once we settle down. I hope.
susan, that has always happened on this site. It’s frustrating because you have to rewrite what you said, and all those characters are kinda fun. So anyway, how did you do the musical notes?
Varnes- Susan told me that she uses the Alt key plus 13 or 14 on the numeric pad, (which she just posted can cause problems), but I don’t have one on my old hand-me-down laptop. ( My student sons get the good ones, we get what’s leftover!) So this is what Cobass told me to do, in case it helps you. ~ " Re: Musical Notes. I’m going to assume you run Windows. (There’s probably something like this for Macs, but I don’t use Macs so I don’t know what it is.) Go: Start → All Programs → Accessories → System Tools → Character Map (This is for Windows 7. Vista and XP are probably similar, if not identical.) Once you have Character Map up and running, scroll down until you have the screen with musical notes. (For me, it’s twelve clicks down from the start, or one click up from the end.) Click on a musical note, click “Select”, then click “Copy”. You can now past the musical note in the comment box."

The first time I posted that it didn’t appear, just like the old glitches on Comics.com. Hope it doesn’t show up twice.

I don’t know if Carlin really had a turnaround. I think he was always happy to challenge his audiences, but in ways the audience could understand.

Thanks, again, CoBass! And remember how I said I’d try not to abuse the knowledge? Looks like I lied-sorry.

Just for the record, one of those “seven words” can be spoken on TV or radio, if you happen to be talking about ornithology.

Woah. The most commented comic I’ve come across while going through the archive. First one over even ten comments
