I’ve always wondered where Linus got his ideas about the existence of “Queen snakes” and “Rock Snakes”, since these do not appear to be the kind of things a kid normally dreams up.
Yes, you’re right he did say that. I meant that the streets and sidewalks of some areas in cities are very dangerous because of the people and their attitudes who live there. I have a couple of relatives who live right in the middle of large cities and they are afraid of what happens outside their homes. Shootings, beatings, etc. It wasn’t like that years ago when they bought their homes but there has been a change and now it is dangerous.
I grew up in the country, but we weren’t that far from a couple of major cities so I get the appeal of staying in the middle of the sidewalk, too. However, even with growing up knowing the fields, woods and streams like the back-of-my-hand, I never liked camping. My idea of a vacation includes a nice hotel and restaurant meals or room service.
Linus was always fond of biblical quotations. It would ruin his whole day to be handed these:
(Proverbs 22:13 RSV) The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!”(Proverbs 26:13 RSV) The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road! There is a lion in the streets!”(Proverbs 28:1 RSV) The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Linus will take his chances in the urban jungle, thank you.

I think the middle of some city streets is more dangerous than almost anything you are going to find in the woods.

Perhaps not in 1964, puppybreath.
I have to agree with Linus on this. I hate camping.

Linus always had a pathological fear of Queen Snakes.

Lucy will take the challenge, most likely. I think Linus suffers from anxiety disorders. I’m not sure how Snoopy will react…
