After being sent down to Stumptown of the Green Grass League, Shlabotnik eventually retired as a player and agreed to manage the Waffletown Syrups. Sadly, Joe was fired after only one game, after calling for a squeeze play—with no one on base.
Joe got one hit that entire season, a single. That was definitely a different era in baseball — nowadays he would have been sent to the minors much, much sooner.

Schroeder giving CB a reality check. Harsh, but necessary. Hey, CB, Mendoza has a better batting average (.200).

I just had a revelation – it came to me in a dream – that Marcie looks just like Meg Griffin!

The worst hitting pitchers on the old Expos had a better batting average.

Send him to the Astros. They could use that kind of help.

The guy who gets all the runs isn’t always the leader of the team. Takes more than scoring to be an inspiration and leader.

Joe Schlabotnik is right up there with the Great Pumpkin. You take your heros where you can find them.

I like Charlie Brown. He’s one of the few who don’t require someone to have great stats in order to be one of his favorites.

Ha—between the classic name of “Joe Shlabotnik” and the … not-so-stellar … batting average, love this one!

A .004 batting average is 1 hit in 250 at bats. That’s a heck of a lot of patience on the manager’s part.

Figures ole’ Charlie Brown would find a loser for a baseball hero.

I think Ted Williams frozen head could hit better than .004 blindfolded!
