I’m going to try this on my next sales call. Yeah I know, get on the “Do Not Call” list. I’m on it, but you’d never know it from the number of calls I get. In Canada if you have an account with someone, they are allowed to call. Like the cable company (which calls every day it seems) the telephone company, banks & newspapers. Argh!
As a former professional actress, I think I have better than average diction, and I have gone ‘round and ‘round these “voice recognition” prompts until I am ready to scream.

worse than that is when they make the noise to connect you with a person and then you hear a series of beeps and then a dial tone…….
