I know where there is a 1983 Ford Ranger with over 335,000 miles and it is still being driven. Only in shop 3 times, too. My ‘85 had 197,000 when we parted and it is still being driven 7+ years later.
I paid $600 for a 5 year old F-250 with 58,000 on the Odometer.
Spent another $150 and about 12 hours of my time getting it running and road legal, and drove it for another 75,000.
Of course, the first part of that was replacing the shot out window and chasing out the critters that had been living in it for 6 months…
First new vehicle I ever owned is my current 2001 F-150, and I figure on starting to look at the new 2014 models.
I paid $18,300.00 (60 payments) for my current E150, (1999,) that I am sitting in the back of, right now, in my recliner, typing out this comment. It has over 225,00 miles on it, original engine & transmission. I do most of the repairs & upkeep myself. Still runs fine, (even WITH the “Service Engine Soon” light still on every day. Like I’m gonna spend more money to take it back in, HAH!)

And no flippin’ computer chips that costs hundreds to replace and the thing won’t run until you do.

Might have been funnier your way, but that plate reads: PLGR (for Plugger).

HEY!!! I thought a plugger pick’em-up truck was supposed to have a bunch of STUFF all across the dashboard AND clipped to the sunvisor!

Corollary to the caption that the resale value is better when the gas tank’s full. It’s hard to be a Plugger without a pick-up truck!
