I bought an official Lawn Darts set. I had seen Jarts. I believe they had a little more blunt tips, and a few had feathers that slid back on the shaft after they were released. My Darts did not.

I had a Lionel train, and my dad gave me his old Marx train set. The cars were made of pressed tin, but the engine was heavy steal or diecast.

Yea, I had a wood burning set, a GI Joe action figure, that bent at every joint. And a few large Tonka and Buddy L toys.

Yeah, it’s hard to believe that one day we’ll look back at today and say…”Those were the good ole days!”

Shades of Uncle Fester from the 1960 TV Series “Adams Family”…

Our litigious, politically correct society has banished most of the fun toys and gifts that I enjoyed in my childhood.

Now everything is hyper-techno, hyper-expensive and either hyper-boring or sometimes even nefarious - shoving someone’s agenda down our throats.

When I was young, my older brother received a chemistry set one year. I would burn a bit of the sulfur that was included just to make the basement stink.

Erector sets and Gilbert chemistry sets? I think I need a fix of “The man who saved Christmas!”

(And I still have my Marx train set in the basement!)

Well, once upon a time, when I was 7, I got a lil’ soccer game, the kind that two players actuated the lil’ figures adfixed to bars. I could not play it for the first couple days – my Dad and his neighbour took good control of it … And after I found it hard to find playmates. Definitely, getting comics was better. I could sit in a corner and enjoy them.
