Cell phone coverage may not be so good down there. Those Verizon guys don’t wear SCUBA gear. Sorry, Xaxos, you are in a real DEAD ZONE!

“Thisaway”? Looks like Xaxos is down (literally) Marianas way. Last time I heard “thisaway” was in an old Hopalong Cassidy movie.

cell phones don’t wrk very well under water so he has to send out a sound that the sonar can pick up what is called a ping.

to transmit through water you need a low frequency signal, like “Beep, Beep” that can be picked up by sonar, or underwater microphones (hydrophones). Singing, like the head was on Sunday, also may work.

Given that you say the head has been under water for a year now, the party that built the head put a lot of power in it. they also appear to have gone through a lot of trouble to shield the power pack and electronics from the salt water.

If it was a paper weight for a year before that (I am basing this on comments as I started reading back when Warbuck’s best friend was a nail) I’d say that is a really good power pack.

I don’t really know what Xaxos is. I’m just going to call him a miracle of alien/Atlantean engineering (since I caught the last strip dealing with that stint) and say it’s all good. He has an energizer bunny in his head. It just keeps going, and going, and going, and going…

The things we put on the Flight Data Recorders and Cockpit Voice Recorders were ultrasonic. We had a receiver that you could use to pick up the pings,

This is where Robot Sandy’s Trainer tells the submarine crew to have a room ready for Xaxos.

He’s just a head. he doesn’t need a room, just a nice shelf someplace.

3 days this has been going on, and they only just found him now. How many more days until he’s onboard?

It’s like this comic is being written by Mojo Jojo.

I love the fact that foreign people the world over prefer to speak to one another in hilarious broken English, rather than their native tongues

    Morning, Anniephans!

I’m really surprised my comments from 9 years ago aren’t showing up here.
