I love the juxtaposition on the Blog of the Holiday Dance Club, (where mature men and women can “get into the happiness swing”), and the utter ennui in the laundromat post below it. Very cool stuff.

thanks Mz B, for the trip back to Riverview… that was the “Bobs”, a bobsled roller-coaster, at the time the fastest thing there, it started out as a regular coaster but at the top of the first drop the tracks ended and you were shot through wooden “half-pipes” at high speed after a few 360 turns and tunnels the walls closed in until you were back on regular coaster tracks…

Well said, 3HT. (Because, if you’re the Ford Pinto of comic strips, progressing backward is probably NOT a very good option)

If I better myself, people will still expect things from me other than what I am. So I will stay as I am to piss them off and continue to have my own fun….

The picture of the ride at the Riverside Amusement Park post on the blog looks like “The Flying Turns” ride at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland, Ohio that I rode as a kid in the 1960s. It was exciting because it was as high or higher than any roller coaster in the park. It went up on a chain, and was then released at the top to free-wheel down inside of an open wooden chute. I found a YouTube video of it from 1929 at http://youtu.be/_CBXJEMydQU .
