Deviled ham—or the even more generic “potted meat food product.” Ugh! Love the little notes all over. Crust Foods, Quantity vs Quality, Rebate Rain Checks—Sold Out, and Don’t Lean on Service Counter. Back to the deviled ham, what’s not to like; it’s cheap, full of salt and fat, and, considering its disassociation with actual ham, probably even Kosher!
Reminds me of a customer that wanted to make sure she wasn’t taxed for the free can…and the tax was removed for the the item she had taken off the after it was rang up… wants it all for free…
Yeah, the ¢ could be in any of those places, though usually the Find-It stands separate from the surrounding lines. That’s why I didn’t think it was the one that’s almost in Burl’s shirt or the cashier’s fingers. And I was coming in here to say what NightHawke did, that it MIGHT have been in what is now the white space, even though it doesn’t seem likely. What I’ve noticed a few times lately is that they’ve pasted Universal over the spot where it previously said “United Features”…And sometimes, like today, you can still see traces. This one still says "Comics.com, and the first copyright symbol is still visible below the new one — so just maybe, the ¢ was someplace over there too.
as for the comic — yeah, I feel ever so much more kindly disposed toward a customer who assumes I’m going to cheat her, and TELLS me so. It really gets you favors from people when you accuse them of being dishonest before they even have a chance to help you.
And I agree with Mike. I used to eat deviled ham WAY back (decades) did not know better. I tried it as one of 2 fillings for choux paste a decade or so ago. Even mixed in with cream cheese it was SO horrid I could not use can’t believe I ever ate it!

If the cents sign is truly there, it could be located just to theleft, & slightly above the word “Michelon” on Burl’s shirt.

I never look for “find its” and I could not read the shopping bag under “Crust Foods” – not sure why the bag boy has a smile for these people!
