Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for December 29, 1987

Transcript:
Calvin: Look at this! You call this snow?! It's not even an inch high! What good is less than an inch of snow?! Hobbes: Well, it's pretty. Calvin: Nobody ever closed a school on account of prettiness.
And in West-Germany (geographically, I mean), you get 3 feet of snow over the weekend and people finally put on their snowtires (but no one seriously considers using chains).
All of England comes to a standstill at the smallest bit of snow. Apart from my school… Every other school will be closed and ours will still be trying to drag people in! :P
I agree with Calvin in part and Hobbes in part – while a storm that drops a mere inch is a disappointment (with snow, the more the merrier!), any snow that sticks is a good thing.
Like Canada, in Dakota we just shrug, and head out to work or school anyway. But those first few snowstorms can be hazardous, until we remember the right reflexes!

Are you kidding me, be happy that school is closed, who cares about the amount of snow!

In South Florida, even if there’s a smidgen of snow, school’s closed. Of course, the last time that happened was like 45 years ago…
