Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for January 11, 1988
Transcript:
Calvin: Who's coming to visit? Mom: Your Uncle Max. I thought I told you. Calvin: Uncle Max?? I don't remember any Uncle Max. Are you sure he's related? Maybe he's a con man trying to swindle us! Mom: Of course he's related. He's your dad's brother. He just hasn't been here for a few years. Calvin:Why not? Was he in jail? Mom: No! Good heavens, Calvin. Dad: Now, now... with Max, that's not a bad guess.

“Uncle Max”? Well, I’d say from the one time his mom made him sit through ‘the Sound of Music’..

As I recall, Uncle Max made Bill W. even more uneasy than Calvin—because he couldn’t call Mom and Dad by their proper names, since they have none as such.
