Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for July 18, 1988
Transcript:
Dad: Let's go, Calvin! We're already! Dad: Boy, I haven't been to the zoo in ages. Mom: And Calvin's never been. This will be fun. I've been telling him about it all week. He's so excited. Dad: C'mon, Calvin! Hobbes: So where do we have to go now? Calvin: Beats me, Mom and Dad are always dragging us some dumb place.

Comics in hand trumps a zoo you’ve never seen any day!

I’d think Calvin’s imagination would have a field day at a zoo. Monsters, jungle safaris, alien planets… it’s limitless.

Who needs to go to the zoo when you have a zoo animal to keep you company?

I went to a zoo about a month ago. The only cat I saw was a lioness, although she did seem pretty calm. Honestly, even though animals in a zoo seem bored, they do pretty much the same things in the wild as well.
