My dog can tell the difference between different cans being opened – she’ll come running for the tuna can (we’ll usually sprinkle the juice in her bowl), but has learned not to bother to come when we open most other cans.
Hobbes just loves to attack Calvin every time the little boy tries to open a can. Couldn’t Calvin just find a better place to hide from Hobbes’ imminent assault?
This strip reminds me of my late cat. Any time he’d hear a can opening, he’d automatically assume it was for him and come right over.I love Hobbes looking sorry in the last panel.

Nice perspective effect in the third panel.
