No lo creo. ¡No más “Dora the Explorer” o “Handy Manny” para ti, Gracie!

TrapperJohn, I’d imagine Hector and Carlos have some sort of study they’re drawing from for Gracie’s comment, in which case we’ve merely got two studies with differing conclusions, which is hardly unusual.

White non-Hispanics are a far larger gross number in this country than Hispanics, which makes your first cite unsurprising, since it’s comparing gross audiences. Both of your cites refer to ethnicities across all age demographics, and each refers only to a single type of media (on-line viewing and TV, respectively), while Gracie is talking specifically about kids while including all “media”. Nothing she’s said is contradicted by either of your statements. In fact, if Hispanics (young or otherwise) are second to non-Hispanic Whites in gross online viewing (which you’ve stated) and second to Blacks in per-capita TV hours (not stated, but not excluded), it’s entirely reasonable to imagine that they might lead in “total media.”

Of course, without knowing where the cartoonists have gotten their information it’s impossible to check the methodology, but it’s likewise premature to accuse them of being “TOTALLY WRONG.”

Trapper John: A gross audience would only be 144 viewers – far too small a sample to be statistically significant.
