Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for June 12, 1989
Transcript:
Calvin: Here's the latest poll of household 6-year-olds, Dad. An overwhelming majority express amazement at how little you've accomplished as Dad so far. The mipression is that you're avoiding all the hard decisions that need to be made. In fact, none of those polled could name a single insance of true paternal leadership. Dad: How about if I lead you upstairs to your bed? Calvin: Ha ha. If we can be serious for a moment, I have some innovative ideas about my allowance.

I’d think “not even yelling” about the car qualifies for a massive raise on the polls.

I think Dad not being upset about the car rolling into the ravine was a big plus point.

He’d like a million dollar raise.

I like to think the strip, while taking the course of many years, may actually have been one year of Calvin’s life. Every time we go to these “polls,” we’re glimpsing at any particular day of a two-three week period when Calvin was obsessed with the democratic process.

Dad’s true visionary leadership will only be revealed in the future.

Wow….this poll, right after rolling the car out of the garage, into a ditch.
