Never send an army to war and then tell them to fight with both hands tied behind their backs. That’s why we lost in Nam and will not win in Afgan. The enemy has no restrictions. We can’t win if we must follow foolish rules and they don’t. It also doesn’t help that we’re supporting a corrupt government over there. Get out now and cut our losses.
Military Industrial Complex is alive and well. Ne’er saw a war it didn’t like. Keep those bombs and ammo coming, taxpayers, but don’t disagree with anything that we want to do. Sorry about the bodies of friends your and relatives, part of the cost of doing business. All together now, “Oh, say can you see…..”.
tower troll: wrong as it was with the “Gulf of Tonkin incident” (that never happened) we DID have a “government” in Viet Nam, Saigon actually, that while we created it, they DID ask for our “help” to defend against their opponents in a civil war that we’d kept going for two decades by 1965.
Afghanistan did NOT ask us to invade and remove their government. Iraq did NOT ask us to invade and remove their government. Libya certainly doesn’t seem a bright idea, but NATO did ask us for support, just like WE asked THEM for support in Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, and Afghanistan.
Your critique of kreole should be taken out of the castle in the bucket you’ve filled. Matching words from “Glenn Beckisms” isn’t like citing any factual source.
Kissinger led us to “unmitigated victory”???? Okay, maybe if you wear Nikes today. I was there, and there WAS no “victory” to be had, we spent over thirty years on the wrong side after getting Ho to help us get rid of the Japanese. It was our betrayal that led to “communist” entry, and an undying wish to be free. Now, today, our “enemy” is becoming a major trading partner, and manufacturing parts for OUR military aircraft under contract! Now THAT is a tad amusing, Kissinger can kiss my——- if not for him we’d have been out in ’69, not ’75.

Kind of sad…but absolutely right.
