Transcript:
Hobbes: Here comes somebody! Calvin: This meeting of the top secret club G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy girlS) will come to order. Today this august assembly will decide whether to demote President Hobbes on charges of heresy! Hobbes: Heresy?! Calvin: Let the record show that the defendant made an undisparaging comment about the possible membership of Susie Derkins, an admitted girl and enemy of this club. Hobbes: Let the record also show that supreme Dictator for Life Calvin is a nincompoop. Calvin: Ok, just for that, you're also charged with insubordination! This court finds you guilty on both counts and strips you of your title! Hobbes: Ha! As court stenographer I refuse to enter the verdict! In fact, I'm promoting myself to "El Tigre Numero Uno!" Calvin: Oh yeah?! Well then, I promote myself to "most highest grandest, exalted, um, supreme, um....Hobbes: There! I wrote "Hobbes equals great" in the official club notebook! Now it's a law! Calvin: It is not! gimme that! Calvin: Ha ha ha! I'm writing "Hobbes equals ugly furball!" What do you think of that? Hobbes: Oh ho! I take the supreme dictator hat! Now I'm the supreme dictator! Calvin: You give that back! Hobbes: I declare you null and void! Calvin: Truce! Hobbes: Truce! Calvin: What a great club. Too bad we don't have more members. Hobbes: Maybe we should allow Susie to join.

An animated series would have been awesome :D
But it would really have forced Watterson against his anti-commercialism deal in the end I guess :/
I mean look at the Simpsons they are in NO way as personal and dear to anyone like Calvin and Hobbes are, because their name and logo and mottos are on everything! They have marketed literally everything!
Truly Watterson is a great man with respect for personal value and proves that not everyone will give up their dignity for money.
Watterson, in my book, you are one of the greats, and a definite role model for artists and writers alike!

Watterson was a giant fan of Peanuts. He got a lot of inspiration C. Schulz. Both are great strips!

I love how in the last panel Hobbes reveals the accusations were true all along.

Love how “Hobs” misspells his own name.
