Basset’s are not supposed to ketch bunnies, only chase them in front of the gun.

Yeah, my 5 year old Westi has learned to give up the chase fairly quickly! Squirrels aren’t so lucky he can, if they elect to run for the open instead of a tree, run them down and then it’s goodnight squirrel!
Fine realistic thinking, Fred. No sense working on a lost cause.
Fred, being the kindly, good natured compassionate fellow that you are, what would you ever do if you caught one?
Fred doesn’t want to catch the bunny, he’s merely seeing that it gets enough exercise to avoid dogs that do. :-)
