Stephan says, "Hello?" Jeff says, "Hi, Stephan, this is Jeff Keane. I do the comic 'Family Circus.'" Stephan says, "Oh, hi, Jeff. How goes it?" Jeff says, "Not so good actually. I'm afraid one of my characters, 'Jeffy,' keeps getting hit in the nose with sunflower seeds." Stephan says, "Sunflower seeds? Well, that's weird... but why are you calling me?" Guard Duck says, "Bet you can't hit him in the ear." Rat says, "Watch me."

That’s funny, because on todays family circus, there are sunflower seeds on the floor.

In my newspaper, Family Circus and other 1 panel strips are always at the top of the comics page, so at first this didn’t make sense to me

if you check this same day on ‘family circus’ the strip has to do with sunflower seeds

Patis and Keane actually collaborated on this one. The corresponding Family Circus comic had Mommy complaining about sunflower seeds on the floor.
