The “Tarzan in Color” series of 18 books (some are highly priced) reflect all of the Hal Foster/Burne Hogarth comics from 1931 to 1952. Some you can find on Ebay and Amazon.

Burne Hogarth’s “Tarzan of the Apes” (Hardcover) in color and "Jungle Tales of Tarzan (Softcover) B/W are published by Watson/Guptill and still available and affordable on Ebay. The comic versions of Jesse Marsh (Dell) 9 volumes and Joe Kubert (DC) 3 volumes are printed by Dark Horse in hardcover & color. They sell for about $35 a volume. I own volumes 1 – 16 of the “Tarzan in Color” series and re-read them often.
@quartermain—-No, but I am certain you are right. I grew up with the Dell comic’s Tarzan by Jesse Marsh, the movie Tarzans Weissmuller, Barker, and Scott. The World Telegram & Sun newspaper also ran a daily strip by Hogarth (I think). I also enjoyed the Frank Frazetta/Bob Powell “Thun’da” series although it was short-lived—-only 6 issues now compiled by Dark Horse in hardcover.
KATMAN—I FIRST ENCOUNTERED THE LORD OF THE JUNGLE IN THE BEAUTIFUL 1933 BIG LITTLE BOOK TARZAN OF THE APES IN WOOLWORTH’S TEN CENTS STORE—IT COPIED HAL FORSTER’S ART WORK TELLING THE FIRST TARZAN STORY, THESE WERE PUBLISHED DOR A THIN DIME BY THE WHITMAN PUBLISHING COMPANY OF RACINE, WISCONSIN—THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A BLB IN 1934 WITH FILM PHOTOS AND STORYS OF THE FIRST TWO WEISMULLER AND MAUREEN O’SULLIVAN FILMS—JOHN NEU ANOTHER OLD FAN PROBALY HAD THE BLBS ALSO.

Don’t forget that NMB did a B/W edition of the Rubimore Sunday strips (15b). Too bad it wasn’t in color.
